Deakin’s proposed agreement: what is the result?

Voting for Deakin’s new enterprise agreement closed at 2pm, today.

Deakin University has not released any results to the NTEU, and like you, we look forward to finding out the result.

We are disappointed that Deakin management has elected not to share the ballot results with you, though we believe that it is likely that the university has them. When the branch recently balloted for protected action, we were provided with the results by our external ballot agent within 30 minutes of the closure of the vote.

Where do we go from here?

We know that Deakin staff want a new agreement.

To this end, we're calling Deakin management to release the results as soon as possible, and in the case of a no vote, return to negotiations with the NTEU as soon as possible.

NTEU members will also meet next week to discuss further potential industrial actions to support and platform your concerns.

Members will also join staff at other Victorian Universities participating in a lunchtime action on May 3 at Trades Hall, Carlton. We'll be joined by staff at Melbourne, Monash, RMIT, and La Trobe, all calling on their universities to ask for improvements to their pay and working conditions.
