Dear Colleagues,
As you may be aware, the NTEU and Deakin Management have resumed negotiations following staff’s rejection of Deakin’s proposed agreement.
We have met with management on four occasions and are disappointed to report that significant progress has not been made. To this end, we invite all staff to attend a meeting to discuss our proposed clauses, management’s response, and what the NTEU is seeking to make an agreement with the university.
Bargaining Update with Q&A
Register: Session 1 - 4 July, 12pm
Register: Session 2 - 6 July, 12pm
We know that staff are struggling to handle excessive workloads and cost-of-living pressures. That’s why the NTEU is advocating for staff in the bargaining process and beyond, as evidenced by our ongoing marking underpayments dispute, ArtsEd WAM review request, and workloads dispute in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. But to make meaningful progress on securing a fair pay rise, working from home rights, reasonable workloads, casual rights and decasualisation, and an end to rolling restructures, we need your support. When staff stand together, we win big. It’s happening across the country.
On June 8, Deakin NTEU members passed a motion that endorsed escalating industrial action from June 30 if significant progress had not been made toward a new enterprise agreement. The NTEU is now preparing for these actions at the commencement of Trimester 2. Come and learn how you can be a part of the push for better conditions.
