Enterprise Bargaining Update

In April, we asked you to trust us and "vote no" to management's proposed enterprise agreement. You took our advice.

The result?

We've reached an in-principle agreement on all matters pertaining to a new Enterprise Agreement with management, and it's a much better deal.

What's in the agreement?

  • A 17.25% pay rise (4% each year, for 2023, 24, 25 + already paid administrative pay rises)
  • A commitment to revise all academic workload models, with academic workload committees to design and monitor implementation with a minimum 40% NTEU appointed representation.
  • 90 new ongoing academic positions for staff casually employed at Deakin, designed to decasualise our workforce.
  • Penalty rates and improved overtime provisions for casual professional staff.
  • An Indigenous Staff Network, a cultural training program, and provisions for cultural lead.
  • 30 days gender affirmation leave.
  • Additional public holidays.
  • Improved leave provisions.
  • And more!

We'll prepare a detailed summary of what is in this deal, including what the NTEU was unable to secure through our bargaining process and more in the coming week.

Thank you to everybody who trusted us to win you a better deal.
