Dear colleagues,

The NTEU is inviting ALL STAFF at FedUni to a meeting this Thursday at 1230pm to provide an update on the progress of the Future Fed cuts proposal, and keep you informed regarding our union campaign against it.

This is an excellent opportunity to hear the latest info from our Branch Industrial Organiser Colin Muir about Future Fed, which does not simply threaten the careers and livelihoods of staff members but the sustainability of our institution. Please join us on Thursday via this link: https://nteu.zoom.us/j/99251080001?pwd=Y1BNcFI5YlNhdmorK2dNR2p6VkR6Zz09.

We are also warmly inviting all staff to join the community rally at 2pm this Saturday outside Post Office Gallery to SAVE OUR UNI AND TAFE. This rally has been called by Ballarat Trades and Labour Council and endorsed by National Tertiary Education Union members as well as the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Foundation, the Australian Education Union, and the Australian Workers Union. As well as its staff and students, FedUni belongs to its communities and matters very much to those who live in the regions we serve, so it is very powerful to see our community coming together to support our institution.

Local MP Michaela Settle will be speaking at the rally alongside other community leaders. Michaela's comments on the cuts echo those of staff, students, and the broader community:

"Our kids and all lovers of learning deserve a strong regional university. It’s a matter of fairness. It’s the academics and the courses they teach that will shape our community’s future. A great uni degree shouldn’t depend on where you live. For our kids sake we need to support Fed Uni staff and the unions fighting for their rights."

This event is taking place before White Night in Ballarat when our city will be bustling, so our message should be heard loud and clear.

As well as joining us on Saturday, we encourage you to bring your family and friends and promote the event in your local networks as far and wide as you can. You can access the poster advertising the event here.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
