Dear Monash University Staff,

My name is Ben Eltham, and I am an academic in the Faculty of Arts. I am a proud NTEU member, and President of the NTEU Monash Branch.

I'm writing to you because the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) is negotiating a new Enterprise Agreement with Monash University. The NTEU is your staff union on campus.

Even if you're not an NTEU member, these negotiations affect you. We're pushing for a pay rise, more job security, and improved conditions in our workplace.

The current Enterprise Agreement for Monash University is 237 days past its nominal expiry date.

But what exactly is an 'Enterprise Agreement' and what does it mean for your working conditions?
  • What is University management proposing for the new Agreement and what might it mean for you?
  • How does management's proposal compare to other universities, and the changes that thousands of other NTEU members and staff want?
  • What changes to the Enterprise Agreement is the Monash Branch of the NTEU calling for?

Please join me and other NTEU members and representatives for a discussion on enterprise bargaining at Monash University.

There will be two sessions available for staff on the following dates:

Thursday 2 March, 12pm-1pm: What is Bargaining? NTEU Information Session for Monash Staff:

Kind regards,
Dr. Ben Eltham
