Subject: The ballot on your working conditions opens tomorrow: Vote NO
Date: November 15th 2023

Dear Colleagues

For the second time in a matter of months, RMIT Training are offering you an enterprise agreement that is well below what other RMIT staff enjoy.

RMIT Training Management wants you to accept (for the next three years):

  • Lower wages than cost of living (13% over 3 years) - see a comparison to equivalent workplaces here
  • Less superannuation than most RMIT employees – only the legal minimum the previous increase has been taken away
  • Less redundancy payments than other RMIT employees
  • Lesser working conditions such as no change to workloads, same teaching duties with no additional marking time and
  • No job security for casuals

RMIT Training Management will be asking you to vote on their offer.

The Enterprise Agreement ballot has opened today.

NTEU SAYS VOTE NO.

The NTEU says this offer is an insult to the Training staff who have already rejected this offer- you made your feelings clear- now RMIT Training want you to accept the same offer, hoping you will give in this second time round.

All the hard work and effort you have shown throughout lockdown and beyond is being ignored in this offer- you deserve better. Staff supported RMIT Training in the good times for no additional wages- now, because it is not the good times, staff are being asked to take lesser wages/conditions than their peers in other parts of RMIT.

Your enterprise agreement expired 4 years ago- it is time to catch up to better wages and conditions- not go backwards for three more years. This agreement does not let you catch up and leaves you further behind.

NTEU ADVISES YOU TO REJECT THIS OFFER.

NTEU wants to improve your wages and conditions and will work as quickly as possible towards a better offer for Training staff.
