Dear Vocational Education Teachers,

Have you voted yet?

You will have recently received a ballot to vote on an enterprise agreement put forward by RMIT VE management. All RMIT VE teachers received this and like all Australian elections, your vote is confidential.

The NTEU says : VOTE NO to this agreement.

RMIT VE management are offering you:

  • LONGER WORKING HOURS (7am-7pm)
  • LOWER WAGES THAN CPI AND SECTOR (9 % increase  over 3 years- really 2.3% since end of last agreement))
  • MORE TEACHING HOURS (21 hours per week- no range)
  • NO conversion of casual or fixed term staff
  • LOWER CASUAL TEACHING RATES (flat rate regardless of type of teaching, lectures etc)
  • NO ASSOCIATE DEGREE ALLOWANCES (for scholarship)
  • NO COURSE CO-ORDINATION ALLOWANCES

The NTEU believe what is being offered is an insult to staff after the years of hard work (through good times and bad) where you have shown support for your students and kept RMIT Vocational Education going and open - even when you did not have secure work or work at all.

The NTEU views this proposed Agreement from RMIT VE management as unfair, it will leave you worse off over the next three years and see RMIT vocational education teachers fall further behind everyone else at RMIT, as well as behind others in the sector.

The NTEU wants staff at RMIT to be treated as equals and to have:

  • Real wage increases that match inflation
  • Decent working hours and workloads
  • Equal conditions for redundancy and superannuation

NTEU ASKS YOU TO REJECT THIS OFFER.

VOTE NO

A ’NO’ vote means we can show VE management that you will not be intimidated.

We will fight hard, quickly. Accepting a short term low wages agreement will leave you worse off over the next three years- don’t make that mistake.

VOTE NO TO THIS OFFER.
