Dear VE Teachers
NTEU VE Teachers voted to STRIKE from THURSDAY 25th JULY until WEDNESDAY 7th AUGUST.
This is the longest strike action ever undertaken at RMIT. Only NTEU members can participate.
We don’t take this action lightly.
We do it because we want a decent pay rise, safe workloads, and better working conditions. This strike is for All VE teachers -- including associate degree members who are covered under this agreement.
We do it because after VE teachers voted down RMIT management’s dodgy deal in March, they’ve not engaged in substantive discussions with NTEU or AEU to reach agreement.
On Monday 5 August, negotiations will recommence properly before the Fair Work Commission. We need to show management that we’re serious. We need to show them that we care for our working conditions.
We invite you to come along to an information session on Thursday 1 August at 12:30 to learn about what we’re fighting for, and why we think it's important that we all act together.

None of us want to lose pay right now.
None of us want to disrupt our semester.
None of us want to impact students.
But we feel we have no choice.
RMIT could stop this right now by coming with an offer that meets the expectations of RMIT VE Teachers.
This is the moment to make an impact on RMIT and have our voices heard. There is POWER in SOLIDARITY. We are fighting for better WAGES and better WORK CONDITIONS together.
In solidarity,
NTEU VE Strike Committee
