Lunchtime Rally

Date: April 27th 2023

Dear Friends,

We are writing to you today as RMIT colleagues.

Since June 2021 our wages and conditions have been frozen in time.

There has been no negotiation and no attempt by RMIT to address our soaring workloads, our wages in relation to cost of living, our superannuation inequities, or any concerns we as a staff have about classifications, restructuring or casual work.

Surveys, promises and ‘listening’ sessions are not addressing our workloads nor our wages. They are a distraction from what staff have been saying in various surveys, forums and through the NTEU for the past 2 years.

Every other university or vocational education institution in Victoria is actively bargaining. Unlike RMIT, they are seated at the negotiation table – bargaining for wages that reflect cost of living; for safe, transparent workloads; for secure (non-casualised) jobs and for equity in treatment of all staff.

RMIT is miles behind- and our wages and conditions are frozen.

Staff held RMIT together during the pandemic. It is an insult to offer staff small “administrative” increases.

RMIT NTEU  are holding a lunchtime rally at-

On May 3rd, all Victorian universities are taking action to achieve outcomes and rallying at Trades (Solidarity) Hall at 12.15pm.  Our rally will join them.

Staff need to show RMIT management that we are tired of talking, promises and delays. We want action now on our wages and conditions.

Come along to campus and show your support for change NOW.
