Dear colleague,

It is four years since your Enterprise Agreement reached its nominal expiry date. Since then, there has been no improvement in your employment conditions, and wages have fallen well behind inflation and the wages of other RMIT staff.

RMIT Training management are now offering all staff, including casuals, a new Enterprise Agreement.

In a 'take it or leave it' offer, RMIT Training management are offering you: a wage increase of only 11% staggered over three years; no separate payments for marking; no paid leave (sick, carers, partner leave) and no job security for casual staff.

The NTEU believe what is being offered is an insult to staff after the years of hard work (through good times and bad) where you have shown support for your students and kept RMIT Training open - even when you did not have secure work or work at all.

The NTEU views this proposed Agreement from RMIT Training management as unfair, it will leave you worse off over the next three years and see RMIT Training staff fall further behind everyone else at RMIT.

The NTEU wants casual staff at RMIT Training to be treated as equals and to have:

  • Real wage increases that match inflation (15% increase over three years).
  • Paid personal (sick/carers) leave of 15 days per year.
  • Automatic conversion to ongoing jobs after 2 years.

The NTEU believes that casual staff at RMIT Training deserve better and we will fight for these conditions with you.

In the next few weeks you will receive a voting paper which will ask you if you support Management’s Enterprise Agreement. All RMIT Training staff will receive this and like all Australian elections, your vote is confidential.

NTEU ASKS YOU TO REJECT THIS OFFER.

VOTE NO AND WIN A BETTER DEAL.

A ’NO’ vote means we can return to the bargaining table and make certain that all RMIT Training staff get better conditions and wages.

We will continue to work for all RMIT Training staff, including casuals.

VOTE NO TO THIS OFFER.
