Vote No in the Ballot on the RMIT Training Agreement

Subject: Vote No in the Ballot on the RMIT Training Agreement
Date: November 13th 2023

Dear Colleague,

RMIT Training management are holding a Non-Union Ballot from the November 16 to November 18.

The NTEU opposes this ballot as it stands:

  • No extra increase to superannuation – only the minimum set by the SGC Legislation, which you are entitled to regardless.
  • The previous superannuation offer is now collapsed as part of salary – no meaningful change to the total package.
  • 13% over 3.5 years (6% in 2023, 3.5% in 2024 and 3.5% in 2025) until June 2026.

The NTEU wants all staff at RMIT Training to be treated as equals and to have:

  • Real wage increases that match inflation (15% increase over three years).
  • Paid personal (sick/carers) leave of 15 days per year.
  • Superannuation that is moving towards the same as other RMIT employees
  • Classification structures that recognise your experience/skills
  • Improved Redundancy and redeployment to other parts of RMIT
  • Improvements in First People’s employment

Instead, RMIT Training is offering you virtually the same Agreement as last time – but the increase in employer superannuation offer is GONE.

RMIT Training has refused to recognise your opinion or position and is going to a second ballot.

Vote NO on the upcoming ballot. More information on why you should vote NO is available here along with a salary comparison to similar workplaces here
